The saying goes "Necessity is the mother of invention". Well this is definitely true for the birth of the RxNipple™

We are just two dads with 6 children that suffered from chronic ear infections and colic. We were always struggling to keep our babies healthy and happy. It seemed our kids were always taking medicine. Or should I say, it seemed we were always trying to give our babies medicine! Unfortunately, as is all too common, our kids had other ideas. You know the reaction. arching of the back, turning of the head as only an infant can and of course the crying (actually screaming). We tried all the tricks like mixing the medicine in the bottle during feeding. Most of the time our little one's didn't finish their bottle or they'd spit up during the feeding so we wouldn't know how much medicine they had gotten. Of course trying to use a syringe or spoon was worthless.

We also learned from our Pediatrician that bottle feeding can actually cause ear infections and that you should always bottle feed your infant in an up-right position. Well our current bottles made this difficult because the formula would drain back into the bottle causing our kids to suck air. This was probably why they had colic!

Scott being an MBA from SIU and Erik owning a product development consulting business we saw an opportunity. Let's develop the ultimate feeding system. A system that makes it easy to feed your baby while they are sitting up-right to reduce the risk of ear infections! A system that totally eliminates bubbles to reduce the risk of colic! And a system that makes it easy to give medicine in the beginning of the feeding! After several sketches and 3 prototypes later we had developed the RxNipple™, a silicone valve that fits inside the nipple.

The patent pending design lets formula flow into the nipple but not back into the bag so the nipple is always full of formula. Even when you set the bottle down to change a diaper or burp your baby! We developed the RxNipple™ to fit Playtex® wide shaped nipples and to be used with Playtex Drop-ins™ or disposable bag feeding bottles because Playtex® was the brand we trusted.

The RxNipple™ is made from silicone, the same trusted material that is used to manufacture silicone nipples and does not contain bisphenol A.
